I AM a teen fashion blogger.

In my natural mode, instagramming pictures while someone takes a picture of me.

(mums scarf|vintage jacket| Dress c/o ManEater)

Well that was an adventure.

In case you've been wondering what my voice sounds like (there are better things to wonder about) or have ever wanted to see my best impression of an Antiques Roadshow appraiser, today is your lucky day. I did a short segment on a local morning show, spilling my usual spiel. I also pulled out some vintage, fell over cables, and grinned like a crazy person.

Nothing new there.

For  some strange reason, I can't embed the video here, so if you want to see it, (you want to see it)

If you didn't click, I give up.

Also, REALLY exciting Christmas-y type stuff happening HERE, on Sunday.

 Be here.

or be... not here.

The first option is better.

 xx,
Justina

Trainers, no, sneakers..wait, what?

 (Sneakers/Trainers c/o Burnetie Shoes.)

Lo and behold , the much loved and overworn velvet leggings.
WHAT.
They're comfortable.
Anyway, over the last three days, I've eaten my body weight in food, and
I just really can't be bothered to get fully dressed,
so leggings and sneakers/trainers/whatever you want to call them are whats up.

Especially when your kicks are as pumped up as mine.
      Leather, canvas, and brilliantness.
Also, they're super comfortable, and have a zipper.

  Which is just cool.

The thought behind the title of this post:

When I was a small Justina, and I read Harry Potter like...a Harry Potter reading Justina, I used to get super confused when they'd say things like "he laced up his trainers".  In the US, land of making up words to describe things other people already have a name for, a trainer is a person who yells at you until you do something better than you are doing it now. I seriously did not make the connection between sneakers/trainers until about two years ago.

So there you have it.

I promise to start wearing proper outfits again.

Soon.

 ish.

xx,
Justina

 ps. I like giving presents.
(That's the only hint as to what is coming that you get.)

Thanksgiving Thoughts With Justina

(Don't you love how I refer to Snoopy in any holiday related posts?)

Today I'm thinking about and expressing all the things I'm thankful for, and because y'all are really special to me, (I get sappy on the holidays, just deal.) I thought I'd start here.

I'm thankful for you, because you  read my blog, and comment,
and make me laugh so hard I fall over.

(Y'all obviously take take rotflol as a challenge.)

I'm thankful for all the amazing opportunities I've been afforded because of this blog.
I've been able to meet amazing people and do incredible things,
stuff I would have never even dreamed of a year ago.

So, you know.

Thank you.

Now, I am going to sit at a gigantic table with people I love, and eat.

and eat.
and eat.

Happy Thanksgiving!

xx,
Justina

ps. Don't go to Walmart tomorrow. It is actually dangerous.

Wait, Nicki, they can't see you in space.

 I love her.
Even if she is trying to jack my hair.

She and Ke$ha were actually the only reason anyone I know watched the AMAs.
(American Music Awards)

With good reason, everyone else
(Stevie Wonder is not everyone, so don't even start)
were tragic and disgraceful.
Looking at you, everyone.

I'm sick of Justin Bieber and over his ugly shoes.

That's all I have to say about that.

xx,
Justina

Legs Are Cramping Like In Primary School

#teenvogue jumper: thrifted leggings: c/o romwe shoes: docs earrings: forever 21

but I think it was worth it, I really like these photos.

Who needs to be able to walk anyway?

I've always wanted to take photos like this, but was little afraid of getting run over by my neighbors,
who seem to be suppressed NASCAR drivers.
Today I was in a bit of a devil-take-the hindemost mood,
and so collapsed myself criss-cross applesauce to the pavement.
Once I was down, I knew I wasn't standing back up for a while.
(what one could do when one was tiny is not easy when ones legs are two feet longer)
But that was ok, because this is my comfy outfit.
Favorite jumper: check.
Favorite leggings: check.
Favorite shoes: you get the idea.
Favorite weather: FINALLY.

That's right, it's raining.
Hallelujah.

That also explains the weird coloring of these photos,
which, fyi, aren't filtered in any way.

I'm just so excited that it's finally sweater weather.

Bring it on clouds, I've got hot chocolate and lots of Christmas catalogs.

The fact that Thanksgiving is next week is irrelevant.

xx,
Justina

Red Shoes In The Land Of The Sheep

#teenvogue Shirt:c/o Insane Jungle Shoes: Urban Outfitters Bracelet: c/o Insane Jungle Jeans: Levis

So lets use these shoes as an opportunity to talk about one of the only tv shows I have seriously cried over.

Dance Academy.

(cue all the Australians going "ahhhhhhhhh")

I don't know what was so addicting for me about this show, but I love it.
When I first discovered it, I watched both seasons in a week.
A WEEK.
What's that called? oh yeah, obsession.

 anyway, moving on.

SPOILER

just wanted to warn you.

In one of the very last episodes, my personal favorite male character, Sammy, gets hit by a car and dies.
They give you exactly half a second to process this before throwing you into literally the most heart guttering grief scene ever.

MEAN GIRL IN A FREEZING SHOWER GRIEF.

 Hard core stuff people.

Then, because this show is centered around dance, the show goes on.
This show-going-on-ing ensues in a beautifully tragic dance that made anyone who has managed to follow what is happening cry. again.

and now we come to the conclusion of this rambling backstory..

The dance is called "The Red Shoes".

You get it now, don't you?

So while taking these photos, I attempted to sum up any ballet skills I had.
(aka zero)
I felt like I owed it to Sammy.

(who btw, is played by a pretty awesome actor who you should totally twitter-stalk.)

I think I pulled muscles I didn't know I had.

But aren't these shoes pretty?

claps for Madeline for dragging me into UO, which is not a usual haunt of mine, which led to me locating these on the sale rack.

Also, this shirt, let's talk about it.
You've probably seen it floating around tumblr, on Alli Simpson, or maybe you own it.
It is really cool.
I just felt really San Fransisco/Sydney chic.

(Again with the land of the sheep, I know.)

If that wasn't a thing, it is now.

Are you Australian?

My brother actually just said that.

I've taught him well.

xx,
Justina

ps. You have TWO DAYS to left to win some pretty awesome stuff.
Don't let it slip through your internet fingers.

Friends Help Friends Stand Out

 http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md5lyvjPdq1rz9xnvo1_500.jpg

(This photo has literally nothing to do with either giveaway, but everything to do with the title. Tumblr.)

And that's what I'm going to do for you, because we're friends, right?

So lets get some new stuff in your closet.

A'muse Me Boutiqe sell stunning vintage inspired clothing and jewelry, (you've actually seen me wearing one of their pieces) and now you get a bit of your own.

Breakdown:

The Company: A'muse Me Boutique

The Prize: Your choice of their vintage inspired jewelry.

Step The First: Follow A Bent Piece Of Wire via GFC or Bloglovin'

Like A'Muse Me Boutique on Facebook & comment on their wall with "Justina".

Cool your heels (I've always wanted to say that) and...wait. The contest closes in a week, and one of you will get a pretty gorgeous piece of jewelry...OF YOUR CHOICE. That's right.
(Please don't spam their wall, it's rather annoying,
and I would have to disqualify you, which would be sad.)

 BUT I'M NOT DONE.

We've had the "I'm basically British in my head" conversation. But the conversation we haven't had is how much I love my British readers for consistently reading, commenting, and tweeting. I feel like I need to make up for that, so in honor of my largest readership this month coming from over the pond, I have a special giveaway just for them.

If you are like me, you are practically broke, and also have a phobia of  anyone seeing you in the same dress at a party that you wore to the party last weekend. That's where The Shortcut comes in. You can rent a really gorgeous dress from them for the weekend, then send it back, no pain.
Sounds fun, doesn't it?

Breakdown:

The Company: The Shortcut.

The Prize: You get to choose the dress, then a free weekend rental from The Shortcut, free delivery + returns, for you to use any time within six months of winning.

How it works:

Follow Step The First.

Find a dress that you love.
(You know you've got loads in your Topshop wishlist.)

Comment with a link to the dress, your name, and  your email.

In a week, I'll choose a winner randomly, then The Shortcut will order it, and you will get a free rental, to be used on your dress, or any one of their other lovely dresses.
 (Open to anyone in England.)

 Are you excited? I'm excited.

Let's start winning like Charlie Sheen.

Except without the general Charlie Sheen-ness.

xx,
Justina

Justina x Rose

For more details on Rose + her life, click here.

Meet Rose, one of the very few people who I will excuse wearing Uggs.

She is also in training at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia.

She's now a friend, but was originally a friend of a friend. I was stalking her instagram feed (Russia is sort of an obsession of mine.), and it didn't actually click with me that she was going to Russia to train at the Bolshoi until I recognized the carpet in one of her photos. Yup, the carpet, how iconic. Anyway, at that point, I had to know more.

Whats in your ballet bag right now?

Pointe shoes, soft shoes, foam roller (can't live without it), tennis ball, bio freeze, perfume, gum, stitch kit, skirt, sweater (to keep my back warm).

Describe a typical (I use typical for lack of a better word, there's nothing typical about this.) day for you at the Academy.

I wake up at seven, warm up until eight, have classes till six with a hour lunch break in the middle. Then I go out for a little, then I come back to do homework and stretch till eleven.

Do you feel that ballet, has influenced your personal style? Has moving to Russia evolved this as well?

Ballet has a lot of sparkles involved. I'd say that's what's mostly in my closet haha. As for Russia, definitely. I'm from California so I don't have to dress practical. But because of the weather in Moscow you have to. Lots of scarfs, leather, fur and accessories

What do you do in your free time for fun?

I'm always ready for some coffee with my friends! Starbucks for life. Walking around at night, shopping at ГУМ (GOOM) in Red Square. Recently my friends and I started watching "Gossip Girl" from the beginning. So addicting, haha.

 What's it like being Rose

Living each day to the fullest! I'll never forget how lucky I am to have these opportunities! It's only up from here! My dream is to graduate from the academy and dance for the Bolshoi Ballet Company.

Follow Rose's adventure on Instagram @rosekathryn8. She seriously has one of the greatest feeds. To learn more about the Bolshoi, click this.

Fun Fact: I've flunked ballet three times.

xx,
Justina

Interplanet Justina, She's A Galaxy Girl.

 #teenvogue leggings: c.o. Society Of Chic||Shoes: Doc Marten||Necklace: c.o. Hippe Hebbedingetjes

When I was twelve (eleven? Who knows.) I was in a production of "Schoolhouse Rock". It etched it's many educational songs  into my brain, Ke$ha style. Which is why no one in my house was surprised when the parcel with these leggings arrived and I started belting out "INTER-PLANET JANET, SHE'S A GALAXY GUUUUUUUUURLLLLLL, A SOLAR SYSTEM MISS FROM A FUTURE WOORRRRRLLLD."

It just worked, ok?

Anyway, GALAXY leggings. I know, every Lookbook girl and their tumblr boyfriend is wearing them, but  they're so cool, who can blame them? I mean, it's outer space, on your legs. Cosmic.

As I was going for the whole indie look, this necklace worked perfectly. On a side note, when I initially ordered it, I thought it was tiny, then it arrived, and it was way bigger, which is awesome. (They've got loads of really adorable pieces, so go look.)

Texas Lesson #1: Bigger Is Better, Especially When It Comes To Bling.

On a side note to that side note, I am also bigger than I thought I was, having thought that I was 5'6, and now finding out I am actually 5'8. So that's fun.

DOCS. They just make it better.

Overall, I think I make a very chic astronaut.

xx,
Justina

ps. At 333 followers (because I like fun numbers) I'm going to be launching a giveaway for a pretty gorgeous necklace. It's only like, 5 followers away. You can do it. If only because you really want this necklace.
